Challenges of a PLN

Where exactly do I start? Funnily enough that's a phrase I find myself saying far too often. When I begun creating The Giant Teach I had no idea where to begin. I wasn't even 100% sure what a PLN was let alone how to create one! Sure, I've used blogs before. I read them quite frequently and even tried my hand at writing one but a PLN is different. Right? Well there stands my most challenging moment so far. It wasn't only when I was creating my PLN that I found myself saying that phrase, but when I'm writing essays, lesson plans and even when I'm cooking dinner. I'll stand there for 10 minutes staring at the recipe and wondering how to proceed. I'll admit this is still something that challenges me but there are some steps I take to help myself. When I was faced with the task of creating a PLN the first thing I did (after twiddling my thumbs and stressing that I had no clue what I was doing) I started researching other PLNs. What kind of content did they have? How where they designed? Finally I had an idea in my head of what I wanted mine to look like and already my mind was whirring with plans of interesting articles I could write and information I could share. Of course, once you overcome one challenge another one appears. My next challenge was figuring out how on earth to use WIX. I don't think I had a moment where it all clicked. An 'aha' moment as some people have called it. This time is was more a matter of familiarising myself with the website (something I'm still doing). My biggest helper when I didn't know what I was doing was the 'help' section of the WIX website, or google. I don't expect to ever fully know how to navigate the website. The more I use it and the more familiar I am with it the more comfortable I feel. I think there will always be challenges that I need to work through.
